Live webinar · Thursday, November 19 · Noon PT / 3 p.m. ET

Grit isn’t grinding harder.

It’s a practice you build before you need it. In one hour, live, I’ll give you a working definition of grit you can use that afternoon, and the one daily habit that builds it.

A story first

The checklist is in the cockpit before the emergency is.

The Apache has a procedure for everything that can go wrong in flight. Engine fire. Hydraulic failure. You run it before you think, because you ran it a hundred times before you needed it.

Nobody hands you that card for the hard season at work. What most of us got instead was a single instruction: push harder. So we did, and we called the exhaustion commitment. I did it for years, in the cockpit and later in the boardroom, and I watched good people burn down doing the same.

Then I spent two years interviewing the women who led at the highest levels of the military for The Grit Factor. Not one of them described grit as grinding. Every one of them described a practice.

Pressure doesn’t build character. It reveals the habits already there.

That’s the whole webinar, really. Which habits, how to start them small, and how to tell real grit from the thing that looks like it and costs you your health.

What you’ll leave with

Four things you can use the next morning.

No theory you can’t act on. One hour, one notebook, one hard thing on your desk right now.

bring the hard thing. we’ll put it to work.

  1. 1
The Grit TriadCommit, Learn, Launch: the framework from The Grit Factor, explained in plain language with the questions behind each step.
  2. 2
Why grinding failsWhat burnout actually is, why high achievers mistake it for commitment, and what to do instead.
  3. 3
One daily practiceSmall enough to start tomorrow. It builds grit before you need it, which is the only time it can be built.
  4. 4
A next stepFor the specific hard thing in front of you. You’ll write it down before we end.

This hour is for you if

  • You’re stepping into a bigger role, or steering through uncertainty, and the old “push harder” isn’t working anymore.
  • You’re a high achiever who is tired of running on empty and suspects there’s a better way.
  • You read The Grit Factor and want to put it to work, or you haven’t, and want the core of it in sixty minutes.
  • You lead people, and you want one shared language for mindset across your team.

It isn’t for you if

  • You want motivation. This is practice, not a pep talk.
  • You’re looking for a sixteen-module course. This is one hour, and I’ll respect it.
  • You can’t make it live and don’t want the replay. (Everyone else: the replay comes to you within a day.)

The grit that lasts is quiet. It looks like a morning, a notebook, and one next step.

Questions

The ones people ask before they register.

I can’t make noon Pacific on a Thursday.

Register anyway. The replay goes to everyone who signs up, usually within a day, and it’s yours to keep. You’ll miss the live Q&A, which is the one thing I can’t replay.

Do I need to have read The Grit Factor?

No. The hour stands on its own. If you have read it, you’ll recognize the Triad and go deeper on how to actually run it.

Is this a sales pitch for something bigger?

No. There’s a signature course at The Grit Institute, and I’ll mention it once at the end for people who want to keep going. The hour is complete in itself.

Can my team join?

Yes. For five or more seats, email shannon@thegritinstitute.com and I’ll set it up, including a shared replay.

What if it isn’t for me?

Email me within seven days of the live session and I’ll refund you. I’d rather you trust me than hedge.

Will there be another one?

I plan to. This is the first live session and it’s priced that way; the intro price won’t apply to later ones.
